Welcome to the 2022 Football Season!
MISSION
The mission of Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc. is to enable children to benefit from participation in team sports and activities in a safe and structured environment. Through this active participation, Pop Warner programs teach fundamental values, skills and knowledge that children will use throughout their lives.
TEAM DESIGNATION
Participants will be placed on squads based on age and weight and when appropriate…experience. If you have any questions / concerns regarding squad designation, please contact Steve Bryant.
- 6U - Ages 5, 6
- 8U - Ages 7, 8
- 10U - Ages 9, 10
- 12U - Ages 11, 12
- 14U - Ages 12*, 13,14
IMPORTANT DATES
- -8/1 Practice Begins
- -Playoffs begin: TBD
PRACTICE
- -Practice begins August 1st, 2022. Practice times are as follows:
- - Monday through Thursday 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. through August 20th. Practice schedule changes to 3 days a week after August 20th through the end of the season
- -Participants will get very hot at practice and need to stay well hydrated.
Please send the following to practice:
- -Large Thermos/Bottle of Water or Gatorade (drinks get warm fast, so please consider a thermos or cooler)
- -Wet Towel – If in a cooler under ice this will provide an excellent source of cool down for players.
- -Sunscreen: Please apply before they come to practice
- -Bug Spray: We do practice at dusk, so there will be bugs
THE FOOTBALL SEASON
- -The regular season runs from August 1st through mid October.
- -Post Season for playoff eligible teams begins in mid October and can potentially last until the first two weeks of December.
- -Dependent on voluntary Bowl Game invitation, the 6U and 8U team season will end in mid to late October.
RULES AND EXPECTATIONS
- -No jewelry of any kind is permitted
- -WSPW does not allow face shields as they increase the internal temperature of the helmet.
- -National Pop Warner Rules require 20 hours of conditioning before players can participate in any sort of inter-squad scrimmage.
- -No outside practices are allowed. If you have any concerns about this, please contact the Board or Directors.
- -Additional rules and expectations are outlined in Mid Florida Pop Warner's website.
TEAM PARENT
-We need team parents for each team. If you are interested please contact the Head Coach of your team.
-Possible Team Mom/Dad Responsibilities: Help the coach provide communications to the squad parents (i.e. Practices, fund raisers).
-Coordinate weekly snack, drink and fruit contributions from parents. Recommended fruits – bananas, oranges, grapes. Fruit will need to be divided into cups or snack bags and distributed to players during halftime. Snacks and drinks will be distributed post game.
